Publication Ethics

Bhamada Occupational Health and Safety Environment Journal (BOHSEJ), a Journal of Occupational Health and Safety Sciences from Bhamada Slawi University, is a scientific publication reviewed by experts in its field and published twice a year. It has established strict ethical standards for all articles published. These standards refer to the editor's code of ethics and apply to authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers. The goal is to ensure the integrity and quality of every article published.

Publication Decision The decision-making process for publishing an article in the journal involves the active role of the editor. The editor is responsible for evaluating each submitted article based on the editorial board’s policies and applicable legal provisions. The decision to publish is not only based on scientific quality but also considers the benefit to the research community and readers. To ensure objectivity, the editor may discuss with other editors or reviewers. The editor also integrates the functions of authors, reviewers, and journal managers in the publication process to produce a quality and trusted journal.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Fairness Editors evaluate the intellectual content of manuscripts objectively, without regard to factors such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, or political views of the authors. The decision to publish is based solely on the scientific quality and relevance of the work.

  2. Confidentiality To maintain the confidentiality and integrity of the review process, editors and all editorial staff are strictly prohibited from disclosing any information related to manuscripts received to parties outside the scope of their work, except to the authors, reviewers, other editorial staff, and the publisher. All manuscripts handled by reviewers must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without the express written permission of the editor.

  3. Avoiding Conflicts of Interest The information contained in submitted manuscripts, especially those that have not been published, is the exclusive property of the authors. Editors and peer reviewers are prohibited from using such information for personal gain without the express written permission of the authors. Both editors and peer reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of all information obtained during the review process. Conflicts of interest, whether competitive, collaborative, or otherwise, with the authors must be avoided by reviewers.

Duties and Responsibilities of Bestari Partners (Reviewers) As a reviewer, the main task is to evaluate written works and provide input to the editor as a consideration for publication. Reviewers are required to maintain neutrality by not reviewing works that involve themselves directly or indirectly. The confidentiality of the author’s identity and the contents of the manuscript must be strictly maintained. Reviewers are responsible for providing constructive feedback to authors so that the quality of the manuscript can be improved. Additionally, reviewers must ensure that the manuscript meets applicable scientific standards and adheres to the journal’s writing style.

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Reporting Standards Authors of original research reports should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be included accurately in the manuscript. A manuscript should contain sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate reporting is unethical and unacceptable.

  2. Data Access and Retention Authors are requested to provide raw data related to a manuscript for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if feasible, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data after publication.

  3. Originality and Plagiarism Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, this should be properly cited.

  4. Multiple, Redundant, and Concurrent Publications An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
