PENGARUH TEKNIK RELAKSASI OTOT PROGRESIF TERHADAP TEKANAN DARAH PADA LANSIA PENDERITA HIPERTENSI DI DESA TONGGARA
Abstract

Abstract
Background: Hypertension can cause various complications in the elderly. Efforts to prevent complications, namely stabilizing blood pressure, one of which is with progressive muscle relaxation technique therapy is a movement to stretch and release sequentially 10 groups of body muscles, starting from the thigh and leg muscle groups, wrists, forearms, upper arms, abdomen, chest, back, shoulders, neck, and face.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension in Tonggara Village.
Methods: This type of research is quantitative, with a Quasi Experiment design, namely Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The number of samples was 20 respondents with purposive sampling. Measuring instruments using a sphygmomanometer and stethoscope. The research instrument used observation sheets and standard operating procedures (SOP).
Results: The average pre-test systolic blood pressure was 167.00 diastolic 93.00 post-test blood pressure 142.00 diastolic 75.00. The test results using the T-test test obtained p-value = 0.0000 (a <0.05) there is an effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on blood pressure in elderly hypertension.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it was found that there was an effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques on blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Tonggara Village and there were differences in blood pressure between the intervention group and the control group.
